Lavender, ochre, soft yellows, and dusty purples — layered in shifting textures that ripple like fabric.

I began this painting by playing with a new colour palette, curious where it might lead me. But when I stepped back, I realised it reminded me of the patterned carpet of a dear friend.

A carpet isn’t just decoration. It’s grounding. A soft place to land. A surface that quietly holds the rhythms of daily life.
And that’s what this piece has become for me: a reflection on friendship.

Because friendship isn’t always loud. Sometimes it’s background, steady and grounding. Sometimes it’s bright threads of laughter, or quiet tones of simply sitting side by side. Always layered. Always textured. Always there when you need a place to pause.
